The Mourne Community Choir was borne out of the Creative Mourne project, organised by Alwynne Shannon (Outreach Officer), for the Mourne Mountains Landscape Partnership (MMLP). The MMLP – funded primarily by the Heritage Lottery Fund – ran a number of exciting projects celebrating the natural, built and cultural heritage of the Mournes from 2012-2017. We specialise in folk songs from the local area.
The community choir recently formed its own constitution in order to raise funds independently beyond the funded MMLP programme. The choir recently won an Awards for All grant from the National Lottery, which will support them through 2018.
